Vietnam May Limit Photovoltaic Development

On the afternoon of February 17, the Vietnamese Prime Minister issued a document to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Vietnam, provincial and municipal governments, and Vietnam Electric Power Group ( EVN ) give instructions on issues related to the development of solar photovoltaic industry, which will limit the development of PV in Vietnam.
According to TestPV statistics, Vietnamese rooftop solar installations grew rapidly in 2020, with more than 9 GW new rooftop photovoltaic installations added to 102,000 households throughout the year, and rooftop solar installations increased by 2435 per cent.
In December 2020, Vietnam suspended approval of new solar projects.
