India Is About To See A Boom In PV Imports

During the lockdown caused by last year's outbreak (April 17, 2020), MNRE received a request to extend the commissioning period for renewable energy projects by five months, from March 25, 2020 to August 24, 2020.MNRE also confirmed that a 30-day normalization period is added to the lockdown period.

However, the department was not satisfied with the 30-day extension and wanted to postpone it for at least six months to address challenges such as labor shortages due to the lockout and stock-outs.

In February, MNRE issued a notice denying a request to extend the commissioning of renewable energy projects for another five months.

MNRE said that if it still wants to complete project installation in time for Aug. 24, 2020, and commissioning 30 days thereafter, installers need to have key components such as PV modules and inverters ready by the end of July. If you count three months of logistics, all imported products should start shipping by the end of April.

Thus, before the end of April will usher in a small climax of India's photovoltaic product import procurement.
